On the 21st March, 2006 at 08.50pm, Jack Dorsey sent the first tweet. And my how times have changed – or maybe not…
In celebration of the 8th anniversary of the first tweet, we were treated to access of our first ever tweets – how many of us can remember that far back? And for the majority of us it was either rather banal, or embarrassing.
We had a look back at our first tweet – not banal, not embarrassing, but a little sad. Not as a reflection of us but on the fact that things haven’t changed.
We still, even as an IT Support company, receive calls from “Microsoft” and so do our customers. And, four years after our first tweet, there are still people who fall foul of this type of scam.
Scammers, phishers, hackers, they won’t go away. Whilst we are aware of scams and attempt to notify as many people as possible there are those that will still fall victim. It’s not just ourselves and other IT Support companies who need to spread awareness of these attacks but you too as individuals: tell your parents, your grandparents, the elderly neighbours; educate your children, your nieces and nephews – let us all work together to try and thwart those wanting to take advantage of the more vulnerable, more trusting, and less aware amongst us.
Too keep up to date with the latest security scares please join us over on Twitter where we notify you as soon as news comes in of issues that you need to be aware of.
